PESCO Installs Aerial Bundled Cables (ABC) on 18 Feeders in Peshawar
Peshawar, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 7th Oct, 2026)
Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) has installed Aerial Bundled Cables (ABC) on 18 feeders in Peshawar and adjoining areas to combat electricity theft, reduce faults, and enhance the reliability of power supply.
PESCO Chief Akhtar Hameed Khan stated that ABC cables have been installed on six feeders in Peshawar, eight in Charsadda, and four in Shabqadar. He explained that these cables, being specially designed insulated wires with protective sheaths, make electricity theft more challenging and significantly lower the risk of electric shocks.
According to Khan, this initiative will help curb power theft and ultimately contribute to eliminating load-shedding. He further added that the strong and durable cables will also reduce fault occurrences during rain and strong winds, thereby improving the stability of the power distribution system.
The installation of ABC cables is addressing issues like overloading and tripping, preventing accidents caused by exposed electrical wires. Khan revealed that work on another eight feeders in Peshawar is nearing completion, and subsequently, the installation of ABC cables will be extended to other cities within the PESCO region.
