Peterborough deny making illegal approach for Savage

Robbie Savage: Peterborough United chairman refutes illegal approach claims

BBC Sport reports on the controversy surrounding Peterborough United's appointment of Robbie Savage as their new manager.

Peterborough United Deny Illegal Approach

Darragh MacAnthony, chairman of Peterborough United, has refuted claims made by Forest Green Rovers owner Dale Vince that an illegal approach was made for manager Robbie Savage.

Vince had initially refused permission for Peterborough to speak to Savage, but later agreed after direct contact from Posh.

According to Vince, the League One side's actions left them in "no glory." He accused Peterborough of ignoring his former manager's position and creating a "pickle" for Savage.

MacAnthony, however, defended the appointment process:

"I have been an owner for 20 years in the EFL and have respect for the process. Good luck to Forest Green in appointing a new manager."

The Appointment and Reaction

Savage was confirmed as Peterborough's manager on October 2nd, following Luke Williams' departure. The 51-year-old's first game in charge was a 3-1 win at Leicester City.

Forest Green have not yet commented on whether they will contact the Football Association regarding the matter.
