Punjab Food Authority (PFA) Gujrat continues crackdown on milk adulteration and food safety violations:
According to an official source, the PFA, on the directives of Deputy District Officer Sadia Rafat, conducted inspections at 1,508 milk shops, issuing 755 improvement notices in 2026. Additionally, 6,412 milk-carrying vehicles were checked, with 6,207 passing and 205 failing the inspection.
The authority imposed 548 fines totaling Rs 4.404 million, registered 16 First Information Reports (FIRs), and sealed 15 shops during these operations. They also collected 221 milk samples for laboratory testing.
In total, they checked 2.136 million liters of milk, discarding 5,246 liters found substandard.
PFA officials emphasized their zero-tolerance policy towards adulteration and negligence, assuring continued operations to ensure the supply of pure and safe milk.
Citizens are encouraged to report food safety violations to the PFA by calling the helpline at 1223.
