The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has intensified its crackdown on elements involved in the sale and supply of unsafe food in South Punjab, discarding over 19,000 rotten eggs.

Acting on a tip-off from the vigilance team, a PFA food safety team raided an egg warehouse in Abdullah Town, 17-Kassi, Multan, and recovered more than 19,000 rotten, broken, foul-smelling, and unsafe eggs.

According to the PFA spokesperson, these substandard eggs were intended for supply to bakeries for use in cakes, rusks, biscuits, and other food products. The food safety team destroyed the hazardous eggs on the spot and registered an FIR against the supplier for violating food safety laws.

PFA Director General Raja Mansoor Ahmed stated that action against elements endangering public health would continue under a zero-tolerance policy. He emphasized that providing safe, quality, and hygienic food to the public is the authority’s top priority, adding that strict legal action will be taken against those involved in preparing and supplying unsafe food.
