(Multan, APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Aug, 2026) The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) intensified its crackdown on elements posing a threat to public health, following the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.

During an inspection of a bakery in Chak 116, Katcha Khoh, a PFA food safety team recovered more than 20 dozen broken, foul-smelling and rotten eggs from the bakery’s storage area. The team found that the substandard eggs were intended to be used in the preparation of cakes, rusks, biscuits, and other bakery products.

The inspection also revealed that clean water was not being used for food processing, in violation of food safety regulations. The food safety team disposed of the rotten eggs, confiscated the relevant material, and got an FIR registered against the bakery owner. Production at the bakery was also suspended until improvements were made.

PFA Director General Raja Mansoor Ahmed said that adulteration and fraudulent practices in food preparation would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
