PFA Seizes 320kg Unhygienic Meat in Lodhran
PFA seizes 320 kilograms of stale and foul-smelling meat during an early-morning inspection in Qureshi Wala, Lodhran. A case was registered against the supplier.
According to a Punjab Food Authority (PFA) handout issued on September 29, 2026, the Food Safety Team found the meat hidden inside a vehicle, intended for supply to hotels and marriage halls. A veterinary doctor declared it highly hazardous to human health. The meat was disposed of on the spot, and one suspect was arrested.
The PFA also imposed heavy fines on several food businesses in Multan, Khanewal, and Vehari for violations of food safety and hygiene standards.
In Multan, a bakery in Samijabad was fined Rs25,000 for poor cleanliness, unclean water, and machinery. A tikka shop on Sher Shah Bypass-Muzaffargarh Road received a fine of Rs20,000 for bad kitchen hygiene, absence of a water filter, and stale vegetables.
In Khanewal, a bakery in Kabirwala was ordered to halt production until corrective measures were taken due to flies in sugar syrup and the lack of a water filter. A food point at Raza-e-Mustafa Chowk was fined Rs50,000 for foul-smelling meat, using Chinese salt, and unsanitary conditions.
In Vehari, a pizza point in Faisal Town on Commerce College Road was fined Rs35,000 for using expired bread, storing packaging material in a contaminated area, and not maintaining medical certificates for workers.
PFA Director General Raja Mansoor Ahmed vowed to take strict action against those supplying substandard meat. He encouraged citizens to report food safety complaints to the Punjab Food Authority helpline 1223.
