PHA Lahore and WWF to Launch Water Conservation Projects
PHA Lahore and the WWF have decided to initiate water conservation and environment-friendly initiatives through a public-private partnership. This decision emerged during a meeting chaired by Ahmed Usman Javed, Managing Director of PHA Lahore, with a WWF team led by Sohail Naqvi in attendance.
Joint Collaborations:
- Water Conservation: Four recharge wells will be constructed at various locations in Lahore to conserve rainwater and aid groundwater replenishment, facilitated by the WWF's support.
- Urban Forestry: An urban forest covering four kanals of land will be established in collaboration with the WWF to enhance the urban environment and mitigate pollution.
- Water Recycling: Used water at the Jinnah Bagh Jamia Mosque will be recycled for irrigation purposes after suitable treatment.
Ahmed Usman Javed, PHA's managing director, instructed officers to swiftly identify sites for recharge wells and plantation projects. He expressed the authority's desire to commence work on these projects promptly, requesting WWF to expedite their planning process.
