PIMS Begins Handover Of Newborns Bodies

Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) has started handing over the bodies of newborn babies who died in a tragic fire at the hospital’s nursery to their bereaved families.
According to a PIMS spokesperson, the bodies of five newborns have so far been handed over to their families while the process of identification and formalities for the remaining deceased babies is continuing.
The tragic fire erupted in the neonatal intensive care unit of PIMS, claiming the lives of 14 newborn babies. The incident has left the families and hospital staff deeply shocked and grief-stricken.
Hospital authorities are facilitating the affected families in completing the necessary procedures and receiving the bodies of their loved ones.
Relevant authorities and enforcement agencies are investigating the incident to determine the exact cause of the fire. Officials from the Ministry of Health, including the Secretary Health, are also present at PIMS and monitoring the situation.
The Ministry of Health has expressed profound sorrow over the loss of the innocent newborns and assured the affected families of all possible support during this difficult time.
