Lahore High Court Rejects Plea
The Lahore High Court (LHC) rejected a plea seeking the immediate suspension of detention notifications for Dr. Uzma Khan, sister of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, and Noreen Niazi.
Hearing in Court
Justice Abher Gul Khan heard petitions challenging the detention of Dr. Uzma Khan and Noreen Niazi. Lawyers Rana Mudassar Umar and Barrister Taimur represented Dr. Uzma Khan and Noreen Niazi, while Advocate Farukh Lodhi was for the Punjab government.
Court's Decision
The court rejected the request for an immediate suspension, issued notices to the parties, and sought their responses. Justice Abher Gul remarked that reports would be summoned from relevant parties.
Rana Mudassar Umar, counsel for Dr. Uzma Khan, requested a two-minute stay, stating: "I want to present some facts before the court. Both are homemakers, while Dr. Uzma Khan has already been declared innocent in the case against her." He also attached a copy of the trial court's decision to the case file.
Background
Sakina, daughter of Noreen Niazi, and others had filed petitions through their lawyer, Rana Mudassar Umar, seeking to annul the detention notification issued by the Deputy Commissioner.
