PM Directs Strict Action Over PIMS Tragic Incident

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, while chairing an emergency meeting on the fire incident at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), expressed his resentment and directed strict action.
During the meeting, the prime minister suspended Secretary Health, Aslam Ghouri and asked him to leave, according to a press release from the PM Office Media Wing. The Prime Minister also offered heartfelt condolences to the parents of the newborn who died in the tragic fire at PIMS hospital nursery, praying for patience for the bereaved families.
He described the incident as “deeply heartbreaking” and said the government shared the grief of the affected families.
Earlier, the prime minister had directed the immediate suspension and removal of the Federal health secretary.
Meanwhile, a high-level committee began investigating the incident. Former interior secretary Shahid Khan will head the committee, with Dr. Barrister Nabeel Awan, Establishment Secretary, among its other members.
