The Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) organized an interactive rod puppetry workshop and live performance for students of the National College of Arts (NCA), Rawalpindi Campus, at the National Puppet Theatre Hall.
The workshop, titled "Introduction to Puppetry Art: Making and Handling of Rod Puppets", aimed to introduce students to fundamental puppetry techniques and offer hands-on experience in puppet making and manipulation.
Led by PNCA Puppet Expert Syed Masroor Ali Shah and a team of master puppeteers, the session enabled NCA students to explore rod puppet mechanics and learn to synchronize movements with dialogue, theatrical timing, and dance sequences.
Following the workshop, the PNCA team presented a live puppet performance showcasing both traditional and contemporary techniques.
Syed Masroor Ali Shah stated that PNCA is committed to preserving and reviving traditional puppetry in Pakistan. He explained that these educational workshops aim to keep this cultural art form alive among younger generations and utilize storytelling as a powerful tool for promoting positive social, economic, and moral awareness.
The National Puppet Theatre regularly hosts educational workshops and cultural outreach programs for schools and colleges, fostering artistic expression and social awareness through visual theatre.
