Tadej Pogacar to Miss Rest of Season After Vuelta Crash
BBC Sport reports that Tadej Pogacar, five-time Tour de France champion, will not race again this season following a crash during the Vuelta a Espana. He suffered multiple injuries, including a neck fracture, broken collarbone, concussion, and various abrasions.
"Of course, this isn't the way I wanted my season to finish," Pogacar said in a statement. "Right now, the most important thing is to recover properly... Now I'll focus on getting healthy..."
The Slovenian cyclist was aiming to complete the set of Grand Tour titles but will miss the upcoming World Championships and other events due to his injuries. His team, UAE Team Emirates-XRG, has extended his contract by two years until 2032.
In October, Pogacar was scheduled to defend his title at European Championships in his home country and the Il Lombardia race. However, the team decided to let him heal fully without setting a timeline for his return.
