Police Examine Video of Anti-Migrant Activist Slashing Dinghy with Knife
BBC News reports on a video circulating online showing Daniel Thomas, known as Danny Tommo to his supporters, slashing at an inflatable boat with a knife in the English Channel.
The video captures Thomas, who was filming from a yellow speedboat while streaming live to over 15,000 viewers, sailing up to the boat carrying around 50 migrants and starting to slash its side with a small knife. He shouts at the French coastguard official present on board: "Right, you are on English territory. This is England. This is not France any more."
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary is investigating the incident after Thomas claimed his actions were aimed at preventing the boat from being returned to France.
A campaign group, Stand Up To Racism, described the footage as "disgusting". However, there's no evidence that any boats used by migrants crossing the English Channel have ever been reused.
