Sargodha, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd Sep, 2026) Police honoured members of the district peace committee and religious scholars with ‘Peace Awards’ and shields for promoting interfaith harmony, religious tolerance, and maintaining a peaceful environment during Muharram-ul-Haram.
A ceremony was organized on Thursday in recognition of the services of religious scholars and peace committee members who played a key role in ensuring peace and maintaining law and order during Muharram.
Qari Ahmad Ali Nadeem, Muhammad Umar Farooq, Qari Waqar Ahmad Usmani, and Malik Zia-ul-Haq were presented Peace Awards and shields for their contributions.
District Police Officer Sargodha, Tauqeer Muhammad Naeem, said the services of the peace committee in maintaining law and order during Muharram, bringing people from different schools of thought together on a common platform, and foiling the designs of miscreants were commendable.
He added that maintaining peace and promoting brotherhood was not the sole responsibility of the police but a collective duty of society. The peace awards were an acknowledgment of the recipients’ spirit of patriotism and selfless services.
During the ceremony, peace committee members appreciated the police strategy, security arrangements, and prompt response, reaffirming their commitment to promoting tolerance, love, and brotherhood in the city.
