Police Investigation Following Unexplained Child Death in Staffordshire

Emergency services were called to reports of a child in cardiac arrest on land near Strawberry Lane, Cheslyn Hay, Staffordshire, at about 08:45 BST on Saturday. An air ambulance was sent to the scene, but the child was pronounced dead by paramedics shortly after.

Staffordshire Police, which has not confirmed the age of the child or any other details, is currently treating the death as unexplained. Roads in the area were closed throughout the day while investigations took place and officers remained at the scene into the evening.

"I know how deeply upsetting news like this is for our community," said Robert Duncan, district councillor for Cheslyn Hay, on social media. He promised to update residents with "full and confirmed details" and asked people to "avoid speculation and allow the family and responders the privacy and respect they deserve".
