The Metropolitan Police has submitted its final investigation file into the Grenfell Tower fire to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS). Twenty companies and organisations as well as 54 individuals could face criminal charges, including corporate manslaughter, gross negligence manslaughter, health and safety offences, fraud, and misconduct in public office.
The Met described this case as one of the "most complex investigations ever undertaken by any UK law enforcement agency". A public inquiry in 2024 found the fire, which occurred on 14 June 2017, was avoidable, resulting in the tragic loss of 72 lives.
Operation Northleigh, the Met's investigation into the fire, has examined the actions of 15,000 people across 700 organisations, costing £150m.
