Portugal Invests €420 Million To Expand Urban Transport

Portugal has approved a significant investment of €420 million to expand its urban transport network. This funding will extend the Porto Metro to Gondomar and Trofa, with a focus on sustainable transportation options.

Maria da Graça Carvalho, Minister of Environment and Energy, revealed that the funding will primarily come from the Environmental Fund and the Sustainable 2030 initiative, both supported by the European Union's Cohesion Fund. She emphasized the importance of reducing CO2 emissions in the transport sector, which currently contributes the most to Portugal's emissions.

This move is part of a broader effort to revolutionize urban mobility, ensuring a greener and more efficient future for Portugal's cities.
