PPPW Pays Rich Tribute to Martyrs, Heroes on Defence Day
PPPW pays rich tribute to the national heroes and martyrs of the 1965 war ahead on the occasion of Defence Day, leadership of the Pakistan Peoples Party Workers (PPPW) said on Friday. They stated that sacrifices by valour armed forces and national heroes in defending the motherland remain a proud and unforgettable chapter in the country's history.
In a joint message, PPPW President Dr. Safdar Ali Abbasi, Naheed Khan, and other party office-bearers highlighted that the sacrifices made by the armed forces form the core of national unity and patriotism. The PPPW leadership specifically honoured Pakistan Air Force legend Squadron Leader Muhammad Mahmood Alam (M.M. Alam) for his historic performance during the 1965 war, along with Major Raja Aziz Bhatti Shaheed (Nishan-e-Haider), Squadron Leader Sarfaraz Ahmed Rafique Shaheed, Wing Commander Mervyn L. Middlecoat Shaheed, Flight Lieutenant Imtiaz Ahmed Bhatti Shaheed, and countless officers and soldiers who laid down their lives for the motherland.
They also expressed that "the nation holds families of the martyrs in the highest regard for their sacrifices, patience, and resilience."
Stressing on political stability through democratic principles, the leaders affirmed that true national strength requires democratic dialogue and institutional cohesion rather than confrontation. The party reaffirmed its commitment to playing an active role in defending the nation's sovereignty, parliamentary supremacy, and fundamental rights.
