Extraordinary security arrangements have been made in Lahore ahead of the arrival of high-profile guests, according to a special report citing senior security sources.

Lahore is gearing up for the nikah ceremony of Mahnoor Safdar, daughter of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, with stringent measures in place.

Here’s what we know:

  • Drone Ban: Licensed drones will not be permitted to fly over designated areas of the city for the next two days.
  • Enhanced Surveillance: Surveillance at Lahore's entry points has been tightened, focusing on interprovincial and interdistrict bus terminals, railway stations, and goods transport facilities.
  • Search Operations: Several search operations have been conducted since last week along roads leading to Jati Umra and throughout the area. Information is being gathered through local police stations and other institutions.
  • Building Checks: Sensitive agencies have scrutinized buildings and locations along routes from the airport to Jati Umra, as well as alternative emergency routes.
  • Leave Cancelled: The leave of officers and personnel from the police, Rescue services, and relevant departments has been cancelled for Saturday and Sunday.

Maryam Nawaz’s brothers, Hasan Nawaz and Hussain Nawaz, and Prime Minister's son and Punjab Chief Minister's cousin Salman Shehbaz have already arrived in Lahore with their families for the ceremony.
