The benchmark KSE-100 Index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) faced downward pressure on Monday, shedding 199.84 points, a negative change of 0.11%, to close at 176,966.69 points. This was against 177,166.52 points recorded in the previous trading session.

The ready market witnessed a trading volume of 933.516 million shares, compared to 689.166 million shares traded previously, while the traded value increased to Rs 44.100 billion from Rs 35.657 billion. Market capitalization decreased slightly to Rs 19.870 trillion from Rs 19.882 trillion recorded a day earlier.

Out of 498 companies that traded in the ready market, 222 posted gains, 241 suffered losses, while 35 remained unchanged, reflecting a mixed trend with a negative bias. Cnergyico PK led the volume chart with 266.477 million shares, followed by Tasdeeq Information with 148.563 million shares and Pak Refinery with 52.888 million shares.

Among the top gainers, Buxly Paints Limited advanced by Rs 54.12 to settle at Rs 595.31, whereas Thal Industries Corporation Limited surged by Rs 49.72 to close at Rs 1,395.78.

On the losing side, Rafhan Maize Products Company Limited declined by Rs 88.67 to close at Rs 9,212.40, while Sapphire Textile Mills Limited fell by Rs 59.79 to Rs 1,440.31.

In the futures (DFC) market, turnover stood at 572.304 million shares with a traded value of Rs 24.093 billion, compared with 222.388 million shares worth Rs 10.832 billion in the previous session.

Of the 314 companies traded in the DFC market, 158 advanced, 149 declined, and seven remained unchanged.
