PSX Stays Bearish, Loses Over 993 Points

The benchmark KSE-100 Index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange ( PSX ) continued with a bearish trend on Tuesday, losing 993.92 points, a negative change of 0.57 percent, to close at 172,642.16 points against 173,636.08 points recorded in the previous trading session.

The ready market witnessed a trading volume of 722.624 million shares, compared to 679.188 million shares traded in the previous session, while the traded value surged to Rs 27.942 billion from Rs 23.692 billion.

Market capitalisation decreased to Rs 19.295 trillion from Rs 19.434 trillion recorded a day earlier.

Out of 496 companies that traded in the ready market, 101 posted gains, 359 suffered losses, while 36 remained unchanged, reflecting a downward trend in the market.

Cnergyico PK led the volume chart with 103.841 million shares, followed by Media Times Ltd with 103.045 million shares, and Pak Refinery with 41.087 million shares.

Among the top gainers,

  • Pakistan Services Limited surged by Rs 89.11 to close at Rs 980.23,
  • Buxly Paints Limited advanced by Rs 56.79 to settle at Rs 1,144.84.

On the losing side,

  • Unilever Pakistan Foods Limited declined by Rs 356.43 to close at Rs 24,849.50,
  • PIA Holding Company LimitedB fell by Rs 342.14 to Rs 16,881.98.

In the futures (DFC) market, turnover stood at 176.266 million shares with a traded value of Rs 8.304 billion, compared with 136.851 million shares worth Rs 6.595 billion in the previous session.

Of the 299 companies traded in the DFC market, 52 advanced, 246 declined, and 1 remained unchanged.
