PTA, Google MoU Signing To Strengthen Child Online Safety In Pakistan

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and Google LLC today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Child Online Safety, focusing on strengthening awareness, digital safety, and responsible use of online platforms among children, parents, teachers, and caregivers across Pakistan.

Under the MoU, PTA and Google will collaborate on a Child Safety Program encompassing:

  • Developing awareness content in English and local languages.
  • Conducting training programs in educational institutions.
  • Launching a nationwide outreach campaign to connect families with localized online safety resources and tutorials.

Chairman PTA Maj. Gen. (R) Hafeez Ur Rehman, HI (M), SI, emphasized the importance of collective efforts and stakeholder collaboration to protect children in a digital age. Dr. Khawar Siddique Khokhar, Member (Compliance & Enforcement), PTA, stressed the need for promoting digital literacy and responsible online behavior to create a safer digital environment for Pakistan’s children and families.

This partnership reflects PTA and Google’s shared commitment to empowering parents and teachers, enhancing digital awareness, and fostering a more secure online space.
