PTA Intensifies Crackdown On Illegal Provisioning Of Internet Services
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Zonal Office Lahore, in close collaboration with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Corporate Crime Circle (CCC) Lahore, conducted a successful raid against an illegal internet service provider operating under the name M/s Frontend Internet (SMC-Private Limited) at Mustafi School Street, near Mosque Bilal Baddoki, Kahna Nau, Ferozepur Road, Lahore, without a valid license from PTA.
During the raid, one person was taken into custody, and equipment, including 02 Cisco switches, 05 GPON OLTs, 19 patch cables, 03 cash memo books, and 01 laptop, was confiscated from the site, as per a news release. An FIR has been registered, and the FIA is further investigating the case.
This successful action against the illegal internet service provider reflects PTA’s unwavering commitment, continuous monitoring, and persistent efforts to curb the provision of illegal internet services. Such enforcement actions are crucial in preventing tax evasion and revenue misreporting, safeguarding the national exchequer.
PTA urges the public to avail telecom services only from PTA-licensed operators to avoid sudden disruption or discontinuation of services.
