PTI Leadership Proposes Postponing Long March Until October 10

UrduPoint (24 September 2026) reports that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership has proposed postponing their long march until October 10. According to media sources, a high-level PTI meeting attended by Barrister Gohar, Sohail Afridi, Asad Qaiser, Salman Akram Raja, and Junaid Akbar discussed the following:

  • They viewed the government's closure of routes as a sign of panic and a success for their movement.
  • Serious reservations were expressed about the roles played by Opposition Leader Mahmood Achakzai and Raja Nasir Abbas.
  • Ongoing contacts with Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) are being pursued. The PPP's leadership is reportedly awaiting Chairman Bilawal Bhutto’s return to Pakistan.
  • An All-Parties Conference between October 6 and 10 was proposed.
  • Performance reviews were conducted for PTI chapters in Sindh, Punjab, and Balochistan.
  • Discussions took place regarding the potential transfer of PTI founder Imran Khan to a hospital and relief for Bushra Bibi.
  • Intensified contacts with all opposition parties were agreed upon.

The meeting also included a consultation with Mahmood Khan Achakzai, leader of the Tehreek Tahafuz Aain-e-Pakistan (Movement for Protection of Constitution), along with other opposition leaders such as Senator Allama Raja Nasir Abbas Jafri and Barrister Gohar Ali Khan. The purpose was to prepare for the September 27 long march and devise a future political strategy, focusing on improved coordination and cooperation among opposition parties. They also discussed issues in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa related to law and order, provincial autonomy, and the country's overall political situation.
