Punjab Dismisses 12 Civil Defence Personnel, Suspends 37 In Major Accountability Drive
LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th Sep, 2026) In a major accountability drive against corruption, misconduct, and negligence, 12 Civil Defence personnel have been dismissed from service, 37 officers and officials suspended, and seven officers transferred on the directions of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, officials said on Sunday.
The action was taken by the Director Civil Defence Punjab as part of an internal accountability process, reflecting the provincial government’s policy of zero tolerance against corruption and negligence in public institutions.
Dismissed Personnel
The 12 personnel dismissed from service include:
- Farman Ullah (Sargodha)
- Naveed (Khushab)
- Muhammad Irshad (Multan)
- Nasir Iqbal (Multan)
- Asghar (Lodhran)
- Group Wardens Rehman Maqbool and Hamza Bilal Butt (Gujranwala)
- Aman Ullah and Faizan (Hafizabad)
- Sharif (Narowal)
- Bashir Ahmed and Shabbir Ahmed (Bahawalpur)
The relevant Deputy Commissioners have been asked to ensure implementation of the dismissal orders.
Suspended Officers and Officials
Meanwhile, 37 officers and personnel have been suspended over allegations of corruption, misconduct, and negligence. These include:
- Civil Defence Officer Rahim Yar Khan Shakeeb Ahmed
- Assistants Sardar Ali, Sanaullah, Muhammad Kamran, and Shah Nawaz
- Clerks Muhammad Altaf (Narowal) and Muhammad Qasim (Gujranwala)
The suspended personnel also comprise nine chief instructors, 15 instructors, a rescue leader, rescuer, first aider, driver, naib qasid, and a sanitary worker.
The Director Civil Defence has issued suspension orders and initiated proceedings under the Punjab Employees Efficiency, Discipline and Accountability (PEEDA) Act, directing the accused to report to Civil Defence Punjab Headquarters.
Transfers
Separately, seven Civil Defence officers have been transferred due to prolonged postings and administrative requirements:
- Civil Defence Officer Muzaffargarh Syeda Sehrish Irshad to Vehari
- Civil Defence Officer Vehari Muhammad Rehan to Bahawalnagar
- Civil Defence Officer Faisalabad Muhammad Abbas to Sahiwal
- Civil Defence Officer Sahiwal Muhammad Adnan Qaiser to Okara
- Civil Defence Officer Okara Muhammad Iqbal Javed to Faisalabad
- Civil Defence Officer (Civil Secretariat) Lahore Sidra Yasin Rana as Chief Staff Officer at the Directorate of Civil Defence Punjab
- Civil Defence Officer Sialkot Farhana Aziz to (Civil Secretariat), Lahore
