Punjab Govt Providing Quality Medical Facilities To Thalassemia Patients: Minister Salman

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News) - Punjab Minister for Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education, Khawaja Salman Rafique, on Thursday stated that the Punjab government is offering excellent medical facilities to Thalassemia patients. He was chairing a meeting on Thalassemia patient treatment at Fatima Jinnah Medical University.
Officials informed the meeting about the healthcare and therapy provided to those suffering from Thalassemia.
The minister highlighted that under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Thalassemia prevention and treatment program is being further expanded. He mentioned that legislation regarding the matter was finalized a year ago, with over 500,000 people receiving counseling so far.
Salman Rafique emphasized the significance of pre-marital Thalassemia screening in controlling the disease, adding that an awareness campaign would soon be launched. He praised the Chief Minister for consistently exceeding expectations in allocating resources to the health sector.
