Joint Action Committee leaders are allegedly pressuring the administration with a false narrative to halt inquiries against them and action over alleged billions-of-rupees corruption in Town Three, according to the Punjab University spokesperson.
At a press conference, the spokesperson claimed that leading committee members were attempting to influence the administration through this false narrative to stop investigations into their actions. These investigations are focused on allegations of significant corruption in Town Three.
He emphasized the significance of the Joint Action Committee's formation following fact-finding in the Town Three scandal and during ongoing inquiries. The spokesperson argued that the committee's recent activities regarding Town Three and other matters cannot be considered independently from these ongoing investigations.
Addressing specific complaints, he stated that issues related to appointments, administrative matters, and allegations against some Joint Action Committee members are being examined according to university rules and laws. These decisions will be based on evidence and legal principles, not protests or pressure tactics.
The spokesperson also addressed claims of personal use of university buildings and resources, stating that these will be investigated in line with relevant regulations. He reaffirmed the administration's commitment to accountability without succumbing to retaliatory actions or external pressure.
He concluded by asserting that the Punjab University administration operates transparently through competent legal forums, involving bodies like the Finance and Planning Committee and Syndicate in all administrative and financial decisions.
