PWDP Approves 22 Mega Projects Worth Rs. 34 Billion For Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th Sep, 2026) The sixth meeting of the Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) was held under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary of the Planning and Development Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Islam Zeb.
During the session, the forum approved 22 development projects worth over Rs. 34 billion aimed at the welfare and socio-economic uplift of the province.
On the special directives of the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, multiple projects were approved specifically for Khyber District. Among these, the "Rokhana Qabail Integrated Development Package" was formally cleared—a comprehensive multi-sector initiative designed to improve living standards, enhance economic conditions, and ensure access to basic public facilities in the district.
Key Infrastructure Projects Approved for Khyber District:
- Improvement and expansion of Dogara to N-55 road via Malgo Dero Adda
- Construction and upgradation of Shamshi to Adam Khel road via Batar Sharif in the Bara area of Tirah Subdivision (13 kilometers)
- Construction and upgradation of Barki Tal Dhand road (12 kilometers) in Tirah Subdivision
These roads are expected to boost internal connectivity, link regional highways, and provide an alternate route for international trade and heavy vehicles.
Water Supply Schemes:
Under the Chief Minister's special instructions, mega water supply schemes were approved to resolve longstanding drinking water issues in:
- Tank City
- Hangu City
- Tull City in Hangu District
An innovative and sustainable development scheme was also approved for Union Councils Takht-e-Nasrati, Mianki, and Shah Salim in Karak District.
Road Construction in Charsadda District:
A comprehensive road construction and rehabilitation project was given the go-ahead in Charsadda District. Under this scheme, connectivity will be improved at 23 different locations across the district, facilitating smoother travel and transport for local residents.
The forum also granted in-principle approval to a wide range of other projects, including:
- Feasibility study, physical planning, master planning, and detailed design for the Abbottabad Judicial Complex
- Conservation and management of archaeological and cultural heritage
- Innovative interventions in the local government sector
- Various agricultural initiatives such as estimating greenhouse gas emissions from the agriculture sector, improving the crop estimation system, enhancing productivity through tertiary irrigation systems, scaling up smart irrigation pilot schemes, and promoting sustainable water management for agricultural resilience in the merged districts.
Other approved schemes include:
- Municipal service delivery in Jamrud Bazaar
- A multi-sector development package for Jamrud
- An integrated livestock development package for merged districts
- A separate integrated livestock package
