Qasmi Calls For Unity To Safeguard Haramain Sharifain
FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Sep, 2026) Ulema Council Pakistan (UCP) Chairman Sahibzada Zahid Mahmood Qasmi has called for unity among Muslim countries to safeguard the sanctity of Haramain Sharifain.
Addressing a Juma congregation at Jamia Masjid Gol, he condemned the reported drone attack attempt targeting Makkah. He stated that the Muslim Ummah is prepared to make every sacrifice for the defense of Saudi Arabia and Haramain Sharifain.
He termed any attempt to target Makkah-tul-Mukarramah unacceptable and expressed that the entire Pakistani nation stands in solidarity with the Saudi people and government. He also urged all political parties in Pakistan to come forward and support efforts for the protection and security of the holy places.
He emphasized that the protection of the Holy Kaaba and Madina-tul-Munawwarah is a collective responsibility of the Muslim Ummah. Referring to the historical incident of Abraha's attack on the Holy Kaaba, he shared that the incident carries a lesson for those attempting to harm the sanctity of the holy places.
Qasmi further stated that any attack on Haramain Sharifain should be viewed as an attack on the wider Muslim community, adding that Pakistan stands firmly with its “brotherly country” Saudi Arabia. He called upon Muslim countries to strengthen mutual cooperation and adopt a collective strategy for the security of the region and the Muslim world.
He urged the Muslim Ummah to overcome internal differences, promote unity and mutual respect, and respond to challenges through collective efforts rather than division. He reminded that the Makkah Defense Agreement is aimed at the protection of Haramain Sharifain and regional stability, and it is not directed against any country.
He called for expanded cooperation among Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey, urging the three countries to develop a joint voice on issues concerning the protection of Haramain Sharifain and Palestine. He also urged Muslim countries to strengthen their unity and cooperation, assuring that the sanctity and reverence of Haramain Sharifain will not be compromised.
