QR Panic Buttons Installed in 67,957 Public Transport, Rickshaws, and Online Cabs

City Traffic Police (CTPL) Lahore has installed QR panic buttons in 67,957 rickshaws, ride-hailing service vehicles, and public transport vehicles as part of measures to enhance passenger safety and bring public transport into the legal framework.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO), Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi stated that traffic teams are continuing the installation process at 45 locations across the city. He further mentioned that dedicated teams have been deployed in every traffic sector to install the QR panic buttons, while 12 separate teams have been assigned specifically to rickshaws.
The CTO emphasized the importance of installing QR panic buttons in public transport due to public safety concerns and the need to regulate the sector. He also announced the establishment of four new driving license centers following requests from various rickshaw unions.
Shirazi highlighted the promotion of smart traffic management and modern security features to provide safer and more reliable transport facilities to citizens. He noted that the installation of modern tracking systems in online cabs has enhanced monitoring of passengers and drivers.
Moreover, the CTO stated that a final decision has been made to take action against online cab services that fail to adopt required safety and security features. He concluded by saying that technology-based initiatives are improving traffic discipline and public safety, and the use of modern technology is enabling the provision of safer, more reliable, and quality transport facilities to citizens.
