QWP Chief Blames KP Govt Policies For Young Doctors’ Strike
PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Sep, 2026)
Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) provincial chairman Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao on Friday attributed the ongoing strike by young doctors to what he described as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s poor policies, administrative negligence, and lack of attention to the healthcare sector.
In a statement issued here, Sherpao said the government’s policies and administrative shortcomings had compelled young doctors to protest for their legitimate demands, raising questions about the provincial government’s handling of the issue. He called on the government to immediately address the doctors’ grievances, including withholding of salaries, payment of outstanding dues, and resolution of service structure and other demands.
Sherpao noted that the strike was adversely affecting patients, particularly people from poor and middle-income families who could not afford treatment at private hospitals due to inflation and financial difficulties. He urged the provincial government to give priority to resolving the doctors’ issues and take steps to ensure uninterrupted healthcare services in public hospitals.
