A convicted serial rapist, Zhenhao Zou, who is currently serving a life sentence with a minimum term of 24 years for drugging and raping 10 women in London and China, could face further charges. The Metropolitan Police has submitted a file to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) containing new allegations involving seven more women.
The Met Police believes Zou may have committed additional crimes and appealed for potential victim-survivors to come forward. The filed with the CPS includes evidence of several alleged sexual offences, including rape and administering a substance with intent to commit a sexual offence.
According to the Met, five women contacted police following the appeal, while two others remain unidentified. The majority of the 23 women who reached out did not wish to pursue criminal charges. The force is also investigating allegations of assaults in China, working with Chinese authorities for evidence.
The CPS will determine if further charges are warranted as detectives from the Met continue their liaison with the prosecutors. The police department has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting and pursuing justice for any additional potential victim-survivors.
