Rawalpindi Cantt Gas Network Revamping Project Launched at Cost of Rs1.16b
Rawalpindi Cantonment has initiated a Rs1.16 billion project to revamp its gas distribution network, addressing issues of low gas pressure, leakages, and safety concerns. The project aims to replace aging infrastructure with high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipelines, spanning approximately 70 kilometers across various areas.

- Rs700 million for pipeline replacement.
- Rs180 million for a 10-inch diameter main gas line from Misrial to Dhoke Sayedan Chowk.

- Installation of one-inch and two-inch diameter pipelines in Naseerabad, Mughalabad, Salmanabad, Allahabad, Mohallah Zamindaran, Chohar Chowk, Kamalabad, Bakra Mandi, Dhoke Mustaqeem, Saham, and adjacent neighborhoods.
- Construction of an 18-kilometer long, 10-inch main gas line.

- The project emerged from resident concerns regarding deteriorating pipelines, frequent leakages, and inadequate gas pressure.
- Malik Abrar Ahmed, Chairman of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Cabinet Division, led discussions with Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) CEO Aamir Rasheed to ensure project execution.

- The RCB provided a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the new network installation and pledged cooperation for timely completion.
- Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) will contribute Rs280 million towards road restoration post-excavation work.
