Restaurants Allowed Two-week Temporary Seating at F-10 Markaz - UrduPoint

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd Sep, 2026)

Restaurants around the public sit-out area at F-10 Markaz will be permitted to use their frontages for temporary seating for a period of two weeks, subject to maintaining unobstructed pedestrian movement, public access, and emergency routes. This decision was made at a consultative meeting between the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) and representatives of restaurant owners.

According to a statement issued post-meeting, any seating arrangements exceeding two weeks would require a license under the prescribed open-space/seating procedure, adhering to relevant rules. The MCI emphasized that public open spaces will remain accessible, and structures obstructing pathways, parking areas, or public access are prohibited.

The meeting decided to protect existing green areas and street furniture. Commercial establishments found to have altered designated green or open spaces may be instructed to restore them to their approved condition.

The proposed policy aims to regulate commercial activity in public spaces while ensuring pedestrian access, parking, traffic flow, and the protection of public infrastructure.

Dr. Anam Fatima, MCI Chief Officer, directed the Directorate of Municipal Administration to continue transitioning to a cashless and paperless system for municipal services. License applications, permissions, and related services will be submitted through the NITB portal.

Attendees agreed on the necessity of a policy balancing commercial activity with public space accessibility.
