An agreement may still be possible if both sides resume talks today, while KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi should personally join the negotiations to help make progress, advised Hamid Mir, a renowned journalist and analyst.
Hamid Mir reviewed statements by Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and KP Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi, suggesting both sides abandon stubbornness and return to the negotiating table. He believed the matter could still be resolved if they sat down again today.
According to Mir, Afridi claimed to have sent a written draft containing proposals, which the federal government had not accepted. After speaking to key negotiators, Mir suggested Afridi join the talks to break the deadlock.
He advised both sides to resume negotiations, find a way forward, and under no circumstances give the public the impression that politicians have failed. If Afridi couldn't attend in person, he could participate via conference or video call, potentially leading to significant progress.
