River Erosion Controlled After Emergency Action in Jhok Basharat

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – August 27, 2026) The district administration on Thursday launched emergency measures to contain river erosion in Jhok Basharat, a riverine area, and repaired a damaged kacha bund after receiving complaints from residents about its breach.

Under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner Dr Hamid, the administration immediately mobilised machinery and relevant teams to the affected site. With the help of local residents, the damaged bund was restored, slowing the water flow and reducing the intensity of erosion. The administration continued to monitor the situation in the riverine area to minimise possible damage and ensure an immediate response in case of any further deterioration.

A free medical camp was also set up in the affected area to provide healthcare facilities to local residents. The necessary treatment and medicines were provided to the people at the camp.

Officials stated that emergency measures were being taken in kacha areas to protect residents’ land, property, and crops from possible damage caused by river erosion.
