Putin Shows No Sign of Stopping War as Russia Doubles Down on Ukraine

BBC News reports that Vladimir Putin, despite facing significant battlefield losses and economic damage, shows no indication of halting Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. (Putin's speeches suggest continued confidence in achieving military victory).

Russia's recent parliamentary vote, characterized by tight control and a surge in pro-Putin United Russia MPs, lends further support to the Kremlin's claims of a strong mandate from the Russian people.

Judging by media reports, Moscow is encouraged by Ukraine's struggles with defending against Russian air strikes, including ballistic missiles and drones. The Kremlin aims to pressure Kyiv into reducing Western military and financial aid to Ukraine, believing this will end the war.

Russia has been accused of escalating hybrid warfare against European countries through cyber-attacks, sabotage, and drone violations. These actions, according to Western officials, are designed to weaken European support for Ukraine.

When asked about these accusations, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated: "If you admit your weapons are being used to strike us and we destroy them, call it whatever you want. But I have no doubt this is a war Europe is waging against us."
