FAISALABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 27th Aug, 2026) In a significant welfare gesture for the working class, the government distributed marriage and death grant cheques worth Rs30 million to deserving workers and their families during a ceremony at Municipal Corporation Hall here, reflecting its renewed commitment to safeguarding workers facing severe family and personal crises.
The event was organized by the Labor and Human Resources Department as per the directives of Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz, with Deputy Commissioner (DC) Faisalabad Muhammad Nauman Siddiq attending as the chief guest.
Among those present were:
- Former Member Provincial Assembly Sheikh Ijaz Ahmad
- Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) President Farooq Yousaf Sheikh
- Officers from the Labor and Human Resources Department
- Workers, their family members, and other stakeholders
During the ceremony, financial assistance cheques totaling Rs30 million were handed out under the marriage and death grant schemes to eligible workers and their families.
Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Nauman Siddiq, in his address, emphasized the vital role played by workers in strengthening the national economy and contributing to societal progress. He highlighted that ensuring their welfare was a key priority for the Punjab government.
He noted that providing financial support to workers during difficult times, such as marriage expenses or the loss of a breadwinner, is an essential welfare measure. He pointed out that:
- The provincial government offers various facilities to workers and their children, encompassing education, healthcare, marriage, and other basic needs.
- These initiatives aim to enhance their standard of living and provide financial stability to deserving families.
He further emphasized the increase in marriage grants from Rs400,000 to Rs600,000 and death grants from Rs800,000 to Rs1 million as practical demonstrations of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s worker-centric policies.
Mr. Siddiq assured that the Punjab government is committed to ensuring that eligible workers receive their rightful benefits in a timely, transparent, and hassle-free manner. He directed concerned officers to expedite processing of welfare grant cases while adhering strictly to relevant procedures.
He also pledged the district administration’s full support to the relevant departments for the effective implementation of government initiatives geared towards improving worker welfare.
