RTA Orders Strict Dengue Prevention and Fare Compliance at Bus Terminals
The Regional Transport Authority (RTA) has instructed the relevant authorities to implement stringent dengue prevention measures, maintain cleanliness, and enhance basic facilities for passengers at all bus terminals in the district. These directives were issued at a meeting chaired by Secretary Shaukat Iqbal on Thursday, attended by DSP Traffic Dera Chan Shah, the veterinary officer, and representatives of the transporters' union.
The participants discussed arrangements for dengue prevention and control at bus terminals, emphasizing cleanliness and passenger amenity improvements. They also addressed the timely renewal of route permits and vehicle fitness certificates.
The meeting expressed concern over traffic congestion, improper parking, and other issues at bus terminals and major transport hubs, calling for an effective strategy to mitigate these problems.
RTA Secretary Shaukat Iqbal directed authorities to ensure strict adherence to the approved fare schedule and prevent transporters from overcharging passengers. Action against illegal parking areas, unauthorized bus terminals, and illegally established goods forwarding agencies was also discussed.
The meeting agreed to strengthen collaboration among the RTA, traffic police, veterinary authorities, and transporters to enhance traffic management, resolve transport-related issues, and provide safer, better travel experiences for passengers.
