S. Korea to Develop Environmental, Ocean Observation Satellite

South Korea will develop a next-generation environmental and ocean observation satellite by 2033 to succeed the current geostationary satellite, according to the Korea AeroSpace Administration (KASA).
The proposed satellite, named Cheollian-6, is scheduled for launch in 2033, with an estimated budget of about 770 billion won (US$556.7 million). It will take over observation missions from Cheollian 2B, launched in 2020.

Mission: Cheollian-6 will monitor the environment and oceans, aiding in quick detection and tracking of air and marine pollution as well as maritime disasters.
