SAU Hosts HEC-NAHE Training On AI Integration In Higher Education

SAU hosts a four-day professional development program on the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in higher education, which concluded with around 30 university faculty members receiving training. This event was organized by the National Academy of Higher Education (NAHE) in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission (HEC).

According to SAU spokesperson Gul Sher Lochi, the program aimed to strengthen academics' professional capacity, particularly lecturers and assistant professors, by familiarizing them with AI's evolving role. The training was conducted through interactive Smart Classrooms at the Department of Plant Breeding and Genetics, with online sessions held daily from 9 am to 4 pm. Faculty members from various public-sector universities across Pakistan also participated remotely.

Conducted by Dr Freeha Azmat, Associate Professor-Reader at Warwick Manufacturing Group, University of Warwick, UK, the sessions covered practical AI applications in curriculum development, teaching, research, learning assessment, and administrative workflows. Participants explored modern AI tools to enhance teaching, learning, and research outcomes.

The concluding session highlighted AI's significance in reshaping higher education and emphasized the need for ethical and responsible AI adoption. The program offered SAU faculty an opportunity to engage with contemporary AI practices and explore their potential for university academic and research activities.
