SC Adjourns Murder Convict’s Appeal

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - September 10, 2026) The Supreme Court on Thursday expressed displeasure over the lack of preparation by counsel for a murder convict challenging his life imprisonment and adjourned the hearing until next week, allowing the lawyer time to prepare the case.

During the hearing, the counsel submitted that the convict, referred to as Panhial, was seriously ill and experiencing severe breathing difficulties, and could die at any time.

Justice Shahid Waheed asked the counsel to focus on the main case, stating that the court could decide the matter. Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan observed that the case had not been properly prepared and that the entire effort appeared to be focused on securing the accused’s release on bail. He also noted that the paper books had not been adequately prepared.

The court granted the counsel time to prepare and adjourned further hearing until next week.
