SHARJAH, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM - 05th Oct, 2026) His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and Chairman of the Sharjah Council for Higher Education and Scientific Research, on Monday, attended the launch ceremony of the first cycle of the Sharjah National Talents Programme, held at the headquarters of the Sharjah Council for Higher Education and Scientific Research.
The ceremony was attended by:
- H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah;
- H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah;
- H.H. Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah.
At the ceremony, the Sharjah Ruler delivered a speech welcoming the attendees and the delegation from the University of Exeter in the UK. He stated that the Sharjah National Talents Programme aims to elevate these talents to higher levels of career advancement through extended learning directly linked to their jobs.
His Highness noted that career promotions in Sharjah had become contingent upon academic qualifications, ranging from university graduates to master's and doctoral degrees. This led many employees to pursue education and obtain degrees, both within their fields and beyond. However, he observed, the acquired knowledge often did not translate directly into job performance.
"From this reality emerged the concept of the programme: to offer programmes directly relevant to one’s job," His Highness explained. "Through collaboration with the Sharjah Executive Council, we have selected a number of interested individuals for this inaugural cohort."
He went on to discuss his reasons for choosing the University of Exeter in the UK, citing its remarkable rise from a mediocre institution to a top-tier university known for high-quality academics and rigorous standards.
"We are embarking on this journey with a group of our sons and daughters eager to advance their careers," he said, emphasizing that the programme is open to anyone seeking professional growth. He assured participants of full recognition, promotions, and benefits.
His Highness emphasized that the programme would not focus solely on career culmination but rather on laying a strong foundation from the beginning of one's profession.
