SIDB Union Demands Immediate Implementation Of Minimum Wage

PESHAWAR, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 11th Sep, 2026)
Sahibzada Naseem Khan, President of the Employees Union of the Small Industries Development board (SIDB), has drawn the attention of the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sohail Afridi, towards the pressing issue of the minimum monthly wage for employees of autonomous bodies and daily-wage workers.

He pointed out that the provincial government, in its Budget 2026, announced an increase in the minimum monthly wage from the existing level to Rs. 45,000 with effect from July 2026. However, despite the announcement, no practical steps have been taken to ensure its implementation in autonomous and attached bodies.

Sahibzada Naseem Khan stressed that these employees should not be deprived of an announced increase that is government policy. He noted that they are already facing financial difficulties due to rising inflation and increasing costs of essentials like
food
, electricity,
education
, healthcare, and transportation.

He expressed concern that the delay in implementation has created uncertainty and frustration among low-paid employees, whose financial struggles are intensifying daily. He urged the Chief Minister to:

  • Take immediate notice of the matter.
  • Issue clear directions to all concerned departments and autonomous bodies to implement the minimum wage from July 2026, without delay.
  • Encourage all labour unions and employee organizations to advocate for the rights of low-paid and daily-wage workers.

Khan emphasized that government announcements must translate into practical measures providing relief to workers. He expressed hope that the provincial government would act promptly, ensuring the minimum wage benefits every eligible employee in autonomous bodies.

He reiterated that Rs. 45,000 is not just a budget figure, but essential economic relief for thousands of hardworking employees and their families.
