Sindh Govt Working on Karachi Under Comprehensive Plan: Sharjeel
KARACHI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - October 6, 2026) Sindh Senior Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit, Sharjeel Inam Memon, has stated that the provincial government is implementing a comprehensive development plan to transform Karachi’s infrastructure and enhance urban facilities.
In a statement on Tuesday, Memon highlighted the focus on infrastructure development, industrial and commercial connectivity, water supply and drainage systems, transport networks, and other essential municipal services.
He revealed that several major projects are already in progress, including the link road connecting Port Qasim with the M-9 motorway, as well as the Red Line and Yellow Line mass transit projects. According to Memon, these initiatives aim to improve mobility and strengthen connectivity across the vast metropolis.
The minister also mentioned the proposed elevated expressway from Karachi Port to Qayyumabad as another significant addition to the city’s transport infrastructure. The Karachi Port-Qayyumabad Corridor is anticipated to improve links between the port, industrial areas, and major highways while facilitating the movement of heavy vehicles through congested urban roads.
Memon explained that the corridor will connect Karachi Port with the M-9 motorway and other key routes through Qayyumabad and Shahrah-e-Bhutto, providing more efficient access for commercial and industrial traffic.
He emphasized the broader vision of the Sindh government to develop Karachi as a modern city where urban facilities are planned and delivered through an integrated system. Memon stressed that the city’s development is crucial not only for Sindh but for Pakistan as a whole.
“Karachi is not only the economic center of Sindh but also of Pakistan,” Memon noted, adding that investing in the city’s infrastructure equates to investing in the country’s economic growth and future.
