Sindh Takes Practical Steps For Sustainable Development: Sharjeel
KARACHI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Aug, 2026) Sindh Senior Minister and Provincial Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit, Sharjeel Inam Memon, on Thursday stated that roads, houses, and electricity generation in Sindh are evidence of the province's rapid progress.
Sindh's Development Initiatives
The Sindh government's development program for the financial year 2025-26 amounts to Rs 1,018 billion, encompassing 3,642 schemes.
Sharjeel Inam Memon highlighted the following achievements:
- Road Construction: Over 5,636 kilometers of roads constructed in Sindh.
- Development Schemes: Completion of 1,460 development schemes.
- Housing: Construction of 2.1 million pakka houses for flood victims.
- Energy: 3,240 MW of electricity generated through the Thar Coal project, supplied across the country. Integration of renewable energy projects, including wind and solar power.
- Irrigation: Completion of 3,675 miles of canal lining projects, resulting in water savings of 5,880 cusecs.
- PPP Portfolio: Increase from Rs 5 billion in 2010 to over Rs 700 billion in 2024, with projects worth Rs 142 billion under implementation.
Global Impact
The minister emphasized that Sindh's development benefits all of Pakistan, without discrimination, contributing to the country's resources, energy, infrastructure, and services. He noted that this development is not limited to any one city or class but is for the people of the entire nation.
