Singapore arrests British man two years after alleged theft at Changi Airport
Singapore has charged a British man for theft more than two years after he allegedly made away with a denim jacket from a store at the airport shopping mall.

Singapore has charged a 26-year-old British man for theft more than two years after he is alleged to have stolen a blue denim jacket worth about S$350 ($275; £202) from a store at Changi Airport.
The police were alerted on the evening of 14 August 2024 when a retail assistant noticed the absence of a jacket from a display mannequin.
Surveillance footage showed a man removing the jacket and leaving the store without paying. By the time authorities established his identity, he had left Singapore.
He was arrested on 15 August 2024 while in transit at the airport and charged on Tuesday.
Singapore Police Force
The police stated: "The police take a serious stance of shop theft and will deal firmly with offenders in accordance with the law." They also noted that offenders should not assume they can evade detection by leaving Singapore after committing an offense.
In a separate incident, a 50-year-old Polish woman was arrested on 11 June 2024 for stealing two bottles of perfume from retail stores inside one of the airport's terminals. She was caught in the transit area shortly before her scheduled departure from Singapore and charged with theft on Tuesday.
Those convicted of theft in Singapore face up to seven years in jail.
