Six Automatic Guns Seized, Suspect In Handcuffs In ICT Police’s ‘Weapon-Free Islamabad’ Drive

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th Sep, 2026) Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police have arrested a suspect and recovered six Kalashnikov-type automatic guns, a 9mm pistol and a large quantity of ammunition during a major operation under the ongoing "Weapon-Free Islamabad" campaign.

An ICT Police spokesperson told APP on Saturday that the Bani Gala Police carried out the operation against illegal weapons and arrested accused Muhammad Tariq for allegedly possessing the arms. Police recovered six Kalashnikov-type automatic guns, one 9mm pistol and a large quantity of ammunition from his possession.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Qazi Ali Raza said that Islamabad Police had a zero-tolerance policy against illegal weapons and display of arms in the Federal capital. He stated that special police teams were conducting targeted operations against those involved in possessing illegal weapons.

The SSP Qazi said that action under the Weapon-Free Islamabad campaign was continuing across the capital on the directions of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad. He reiterated that operations against illegal arms would continue as part of efforts to keep the federal capital free from unlawful weapons.
