Rana Sajid Safdar, Managing Director, Suthra Punjab Agency (SPA), has directed field staff to intensify road washing, scraping, and sweeping as part of efforts to combat smog and environmental pollution in the city.
During a visit to Iran Road and Sadiqabad Chowk on Wednesday, he oversaw cleanliness operations at various locations, reviewing road cleaning and anti-smog activities. Rana also met sanitation workers and requested a report on ongoing operations. He engaged with citizens, seeking their feedback and complaints regarding cleanliness arrangements.
The MD emphasized that providing a clean and pollution-free environment to citizens is a priority for the SPA, pledging continued field monitoring and effective measures.
Anti-littering squads were active across the city, issuing warning notices to individuals found littering or burning garbage on roads, intersections, and public spaces. Citizens were advised to dispose of waste at designated points and avoid burning garbage to reduce air pollution and smog.
The agency's communication team conducted an awareness campaign in Rawalpindi city and tehsils through awareness camps, door-to-door visits, and activities in markets, schools, and mosques. Citizens, students, and traders were educated about maintaining cleanliness, preventing waste burning, and protecting the environment.
