Speakers at AIOU Highlight Importance of Islamic Values, Urge Their Adoption for Positive Change in Society
ISLAMABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 27th Aug, 2026) Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) organized a programme on Seerat-un-Nabi (PBUH), in which speakers emphasized the teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and the significance of embracing Islamic values as a source of comprehensive guidance and societal transformation.
The event was graced by the presence of Chief Justice of the Federal Shariat Court of Pakistan, Justice Dr Syed Muhammad Anwar, as the chief guest. Prof. Dr Nasir Mahmood, Vice Chancellor (VC) of AIOU, chaired the session. A large gathering of faculty members, officers, employees, and students attended.
In his address, Syed Muhammad Anwar stated, “Pakistan’s foundation as an ideological state underscores the importance of adhering to the teachings of the Quran and Sunnah. ‘La Ilaha Illallah’ is our ultimate goal, and Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is the path to attain it."
He noted that among the 57 Islamic countries, only a handful have incorporated Islamic principles into their constitutions, adding that the life of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) provides holistic guidance for various aspects of society, including social, economic, political, and judicial matters.
The VC of AIOU, highlighted the Prophet’s (PBUH) practical example of tolerance, justice, and compassion. He stressed the necessity of upholding the dignity, justice, and equal opportunities for all citizens, with a particular focus on the welfare of the underprivileged and marginalized communities, guided by Islamic teachings.
Prof. Dr Shah Mohyuddin Hashmi, Dean of the Faculty of Arabic and Islamic Studies, and Dr Shah Moeen-ud-Din Hashmi, Chairman of the Department of Seerat Studies, also shared their insights during the occasion.
